Resistance to process fluids and chemical agents

In industrial environments, elastomer parts are exposed to a wide variety of fluids, including hydraulic oils, lubricants, solvents, diluted acids, and steam. An unsuitable material will degrade rapidly, leading to leaks, production line shutdowns, or contamination. Silicone offers broad-spectrum chemical resistance that remains stable over time, reducing replacement frequency and unplanned downtime.

Extended temperature ranges and repeated thermal cycling

Industrial equipment often operates under severe thermal conditions, such as in ovens, kilns, engines, and cooling systems. Conventional elastomers like NBR or EPDM see their mechanical properties degrade above 120°C or below -30°C. Silicone maintains its sealing and flexibility characteristics from -60°C to +200°C, and even up to +300°C for certain specialized formulations.

Dimensional precision and production repeatability

In industrial production, a silicone part must fit into an assembly with precise tolerances, consistently across an entire batch. Dimensional variations between parts lead to sealing issues, waste, or quality control bottlenecks. Mastering the molding process—whether compression, injection, or extrusion—is crucial to ensuring batch-to-batch repeatability.

Service life and total cost of ownership

The purchase price of a silicone part is generally higher than that of an equivalent made from natural rubber or EPDM. To convince an industrial buyer, one must demonstrate the gains in total service life: fewer replacements, fewer machine shutdowns, and fewer non-conformities. The durability of silicone against UV, ozone, and thermal aging justifies this cost difference for critical applications.

What are the lead times for a custom silicone part?

For a first order requiring new tooling, the lead time is generally 10 to 12 weeks from drawing approval to delivery. For reorders using existing tooling, lead times are 4 to 6 weeks depending on volumes and formulations. A precise schedule is provided upon order.

Can you provide parts that comply with customer specifications and include material certification?

Yes. We work based on customer technical specifications (drawings, tolerances, material references, standards). Certificates of material conformity and technical data sheets for the compounds used are provided with each batch upon request.

What is the difference between MVQ and PVMQ silicone, and which one should I choose for my application?

MVQ (methyl-vinyl silicone) is suitable for standard temperature applications. PVMQ (phenyl-methyl-vinyl) offers better resistance to very low temperatures, down to -100°C. The choice depends on the application's thermal profile, the presence of specific fluids, and cold compression requirements. We can provide guidance upon review of your specifications.

Do you offer prototypes before starting mass production?

Yes. Depending on the part's geometry, we offer prototypes via machining or molding using temporary tooling before finalizing the production tooling. This step allows us to verify the part's dimensional and functional suitability in its actual environment.
